Every great performer will tell you the same thing. Until you have mastered the basics, you may as well forget everything else.

Ballet Manila takes this very same philosophy to the stage, and the end result is surprisingly effective. Our focus on doing the fundamental things extremely well helps you save time, money and energy.

Take your first simple step to success.

The Ballet Manila School had its early beginnings as "The Lisa Macuja Summer Workshop" held in the summer of 1995. Then, classes were conducted in the BM Quezon City Studio on Jose Abad Santos St.

The consistent and hardworking student from the original group went on to perform their first performance with Ballet Manila in a piece called Etudes in June 1996. The very first official Ballet Manila Workshop opened in April 1997. With a total of 36 students, this first workshop saw the transition of the BM company and school to the new base in Donada St., Pasay City. The culminating performance of this workshop was held on June 4, 1997. The students almost outshone the pros in their concert piece Classical Impromptus.

Finally, the official Ballet Manila School opened its doors to 70 students during the summer workshop held in 1998. Now permanently based in the air-conditioned Studio 2 of the "ballet compound" in Pasay, the Ballet Manila School aims to continue training girls and boys in the highest standards of classical ballet, based on the Russian Vaganova method.

The BM School is the only ballet school in the Philippines with direct links to the Russian Ballet Academy of St. Petersburg, Russia. Selected students have since performed in company productions of Nutcracker, Giselle, Don Quixote and La Fille Mal Gardee. It presently supports more than 40 scholars with free training, shoes, equipment and transportation allowances.
